How we actually confirm purity.
Fire assay
Fire assay is the traditional, most exacting method for determining gold content. It involves melting a sample and separating out the precious metal for direct measurement. We use it for raw gold, nuggets, and dust where a definitive purity reading matters most.
XRF (X-ray fluorescence) testing
XRF testing uses an X-ray fluorescence analyzer to read the metal composition of a piece without damaging it. It is well suited to jewellery, scrap, and finished items where the client wants the piece kept intact during testing.
Witnessed, not back-office
Both testing methods are carried out in view of the seller at our Kampala office. We explain the reading in plain terms (weight, purity percentage, and how that translates to the day’s market-based offer) before any number is proposed.

- How is my gold’s purity determined?
- We use fire assay and XRF testing on-site, done in front of you. You’ll see the weight and purity result before any price is discussed.
- How fast do I get paid?
- Most transactions are settled the same day, either in cash or by bank transfer, once a price is agreed.
- Do you buy jewellery and scrap gold?
- Yes. Jewellery, broken pieces, and scrap are tested the same way as raw gold: purity first, then a price based on actual gold content.
- Can you collect gold from outside Kampala?
- For brokers and miners with regular volume, we can arrange scheduled collection in several regions. Get in touch to set this up.
- Is KampGold licensed to trade gold?
- Yes. KampGold UG Ltd is a URSB-registered company with a valid TIN, operating within Uganda’s licensed trading framework. Registration and TIN documents are available for review at our Kampala office.
